Frequently asked questions

What is a TRV?
A TRV or thermostatic radiator valve contains a temperature sensing head. This will automatically reduce the flow though a radiator to maintain a comfortable room temperature. This will prevent rooms from getting to hot and wasting energy. A TRV will only control temperature when the heating is switched on. They can reduce energy consumption by around 10%.What does the pressure gauge on my boiler show?

What does the pressure gauge on my boiler show?
Many boilers and heating systems are part of a "sealed system". The boiler, pipes and radiators are all under pressure. Try to make sure the pressure stays around 1 bar to ensure the system works correctly. If the pressure is low you should refill it using the valves. These are often found near the boiler. If your system regularly loses pressure you may have a leak on the system and it should be investigated.

What is a smart heating control?
Many heating controls are able to be internet connected meaning you can control the time and temperature of your system from your phone.

What is weather compensation?
An external weather compensator monitors the outside air temperature and adjusts how hard your boiler works. This means your system is more economical and helps provide a consistent temperature throughout the home.

What is a powerflush?
A powerflush is a machine used to ensure your heating system is clean. Dirt in heating systems can seriously affect the efficiency and reliability of a heating system. A powerflush is connected to the heating system and chemicals and water are pumped at high velocity to remove dirt and rust deposits. The radiators are flushed out individually and refilled with fresh water. We use the very best machines equipped with powerful magnetic filtration to remove as much dirt as possible.

What is a magnetic system filter?
A Magnetic system filter is installed onto a heating system to help capture as much damaging dirt as possible. The unit contains a magnet to attract iron based dirt and prevent it from damaging boilers and controls. The filter is emptied as part of an annual service.
